Justified

We have been recently watching the Maranatha! 2 Propecy series online from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and I have a song stuck in my head. Normally this would drive me insane, but this is a good one to have. Hanz Ive and the Harvest Praise Band played for the worship time this last week. One of the songs, which I believe is titled ‘Justified’, has a verse like this:

Justified
Just as if I’d never done anything wrong
[I've been]
Justified
All of my transgressions are gone

It is remembering that through Jesus Christ, I have been justified before God the Father. Not of myself by by the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Isaiah 53:11 KJV
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Galatians 2:16 KJV
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

I’ve never been able to do anything by myself. Oh, I once thought that I could. In fact, I thought that I was pretty hot stuff when it came to my supposed areas of expertise. Turns out I was wrong.

John 15:5 KJV
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The true nature of my ability to do, think, or feel anything is directly related to my relationship to my Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:13 KJV
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

So, I bow before my Master and ask His will for me. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Frankly, I don’t know what will happen five minutes from now. Regardless, I know that Jesus is watching over me for my good. I can trust Him in this. You see, I’ve been justified – just as if I never did anything wrong.

Take You Back

One more from Jeremy Camp. Great song which seems like a dialogue between a father and his prodigal… between the Father and myself…

Take You Back

The reason why I stand
The answer lies in you
You hung to make me strong
Though my praise was few
When I fall I bring your name down

But I have found in you
A heart that bleeds
Forgiveness replacing all these thoughts of painful memories
And I know your response will always be

Chorus:
I’ll take you back always
Even when your fight is over now
I’ll take you back
Even when the pain is coming through
I’ll take you back

I Still Believe

Jeremy Camp has several songs which I truly love. This is but one of them…

I Still Believe – Jeremy Camp

Scattered words and empty thoughts
Seem to pour from my heart
I’ve never felt so torn before
Seems I don’t know where to start
But its now I feel your grace fall like rain
From every fingertip washing away my pain

Chorus
I still believe in your faithfulness
I still believe in your truth
I still believe in your holy word
Even when I don’t see I still believe

On Jordan’s Stormy Banks I Stand

Jars Of Clay recorded this Hymn on their Redemption Songs CD. I personally love this recording.

On Jordan’s Stormy Banks I Stand

Verse 1:

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
and cast a wishful eye
to Canaan’s fair and happy land,
where my possessions lie.

Verse 2:

O’er all those wide extended plains
shines one eternal day;
there God the Son forever reigns,
and scatters night away.

Chorus:

I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
oh, who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

This World Is Not My Home

This World Is Not My Home
Michael Sykes / Tanya Goodman

This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through
My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me, from heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore

The Valley Song

Here’s a song from Jars of Clay that I love.

The Valley Song, Jars of Clay

You have led me to the sadness
I have carried this pain
On a back bruised, nearly broken
I’m crying out to You
